Massage that keeps you moving

What is Therapeutic Massage?

What is therapeutic massage?
Therapeutic massage relieves muscle aches and pains through manipulation of the soft tissues and muscles. This massage type often borrows techniques from sports massage, deep tissue massage, and Swedish massage to provide muscle tension relief and relaxation. People use this type of massage for sports maintenance, injury prevention, or simply to just relax.

What should you expect?
I customizes the massage depending on what you have going on that day. You may have an injury but today it’s sending pain down your arm instead of being isolated in one spot. These are all pieces to the puzzle that tell me how to better adapt the massage. I may begin with myofascial work to the injured/painful area with no lotion so I can do some deep friction work to break up the scare tissue and increase blood flow to the fascia. I may do passive movement to see what muscles are holding or do a fast pace sports flush to get the muscles active and awake. It all depends on what YOU have going on. The BEST part is that it will always be relaxing. Your nervous system needs to time to heal and rest, so when you get a therapeutic massage relaxation is always a HUGE part of it. Most massages last 60 minutes but when you have an area you need addressed 90 minutes allows time for specific work and the rest of the body.

What are the benefits of therapeutic massage?
Therapeutic massage is great for the body and mind. Some of the benefits are:
-it sedates the nervous system to help ease muscle tension and stress-related symptoms and headaches;
-increases circulation;
-helps with range of motion;
-increases the function of the immune system and maintains health when done regularly;
-improves mood, intellectual reasoning, and job performance.
With relief from pain, clients often report better sleep quality, decreased anxiety, and reduced fatigue after the massage.

“Its many healing benefits are important in our high-tech world because of human basic need to be nurtured through touch.”, Dr. Tanya Edwards

Why should you get a therapeutic massage instead of a Swedish or deep tissue massage?As I’ve mentioned, a therapeutic massage borrows from many massage modalities, including Swedish and deep tissue. A Swedish massage is best for someone seeking out relaxation only, possibly after a crazy week of virtual learning or a busy week at work. A deep tissue massage is best for more chronic pain (pain that has been bothering you for weeks or years), often concentrated in a few areas and can sometimes leave you feeling a bit sore. Therapeutic massage combines relaxation with relief, leaving you feeling cared for and balanced.
